Breast reduction
A breast that is too big may disgust. Some women suffer from this rejection – but there are not only aesthetic reasons for a reduction. Also biological reasons may speak for reduction
A too big breast is not a good source for milk but an obstacle to breastfeeding. The two leads pending from the thorax, over the years, will bend the spine. The overload forces bad posture. If the breasts are oversized the spine permanently is in a wrong position. Wrong osseous bridges develop, aches and pain develop after years which are difficult to treat: a reduction operation prevents later pain.
There are, at least, twenty different operation methods to reduction. The best one for the individual patient is found only after examination and intensive consultation with the experienced surgeon. X-rays are helpful. Sometimes obligatory health insurances pay for part of the treatment, private insurances may pick up the full amount.
Dr. Metka prefers operating methods that best guarantee blood supply and sensitivity of the nipple. His aim is the optimal result in one operation act – two acts should be the exception. Therefore, some operations may take up to six hours.
