Wolfgang Metka was fascinated by aesthetic medicine and surgery from the beginning of his medical studies. His favorite subject was anatomy for fine artists.
After medical studies Metka finished his training in general surgery (Facharzt für Chirurgie) in hospitals in Innsbruck and Salzburg, went through the whole curriculum of traumatic surgery (Facharzt für Unfallchirurgie) in Linz, Unfallkrankenhaus and received the degree of “Specialist in Plastic Surgery” (Facharzt für Plastische Chirurgie) at Innsbruck University Hospital.
In California he worked for nearly ten years and specialized informally. Later on in Austria (1994) he was granted the addendum “Aesthetic Surgery”. Once a year, at least, he visits colleages abroad for further education and training.
In Austria Metka has his private office for aesthetic surgery since 1978; first in Linz, later on both in Linz and Vienna. For the last 15 years he has been expert witness at the court in Linz.
He was happy to be granted a teaching post in aesthetic surgery as he has become head of the Center for interdisciplinary Studies (CIS) in Linz “Safety Management in Esthetic Surgery” of the Management Faculty of Comenius University Bratislava.
